Twin Owls
It all begins with an idea.
Estes Park, CO
VEGA was hired to breathe new life into the Twin Owls hotel in Estes Park, CO, and transform it into the perfect spot for young active families to escape into the mountains year around. We sought to preserve its great original architecture while kicking it in the pants a bit to get it up to its full potential.
Ream House
It all begins with an idea.
Golden, CO
If we have a type when it comes to residential preservation, it definitely starts with a “R” and ends in an “eam.” After completing the renovation on the amazing Busch house, we had the opportunity to consult on the second of the three houses James Ream designed while he was still in Denver. Sited in the mountains west of Denver, this amazing and iconic house sits in the trees with a light touch on the landscape. It is a wonderful example of how modern architecture can profoundly interact with its landscape when done well.

VEGA has had the honor of designing and completing a variety of project at the incredible Mesa Lab, designed by the great I.M.Pei. With an eye towards preservation, architectural intent, function and science, VEGA has worked on over 9 projects for this prestigious institution in order to keep it maintained and relevant for a new generation of scientists. Our work has ranged from original skylight replacements to auditorium remodels, mechanical improvements to security upgrades.

The Gold Dome | OKC
It all begins with an idea.
We’ve know this building for some time and have grown to really love it. Built in the 1960, it is one of the only remaining Kaiser Aluminum geodesic domes still standing. Its original gold anodized finish made it an instant landmark in Oklahoma city. Originally designed as a bank, we’ve been recently engaged to work on converting it into an incredible concert venue. Stay tuned . . .

Busch House
It all begins with an idea.
We were privileged to have the opportunity to carefully remodel this incredible mid-century modern house in Applewood. Designed in the 60’s by one of Eero Saarinen’s protege’s, James Ream, this house was in a league of its own within other modern houses of its time. Our goal was to continue on the intent that James built into the house in a way that brought it into the current day but did so in an understated and honest way. We were privileged to have it featured in 5280.

Wazee Exchange
It all begins with an idea.
This project, also listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was a labor of love. Exhaustive research and planning allowed us to peel back many decades of alteration in order to restore this building to its former glory, while also adding in new modern elements to create a vibrant office and workspace in LoDo.
Rock Island
It all begins with an idea.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this project successfully utilized National Park Service standards and the Historic Tax Credit process to convert and restore this project from a night club to an office building. We were able to research and rehabilitate much of this building to its former glory while still creating new and relevant modern design in areas where restoration was not possible.
Lowenstein Theater, Retail and Parking
It all begins with an idea.
This project combined the renovation of the historic Lowenstein theater with a new parking garage, retail and theater. This provided a hub for the arts by creating a space and community for the legendary Tattered Cover bookstore, Twist & Shout music and a new theater for the Denver Film festival.
