Much of the LoDo (Lower Downtown) section of Denver had fallen into disrepair over the years. That included the Rock Island Building, which was severely deteriorated before undergoing an ambitious restoration, inside and out, guided by David Groom. The rebirth of this circa 1881 building included a new lobby, elevator, restrooms, stairways, facade and custom entry of wood and steel.
